Proposed New Rules: Diversity

HuskerMike
I think it would be interesting to have a switch (checkbox) labeled diversity. If checked, a player would be allowed to build only 1 type of unit per turn at each factory. This would necessitate some special mods with more factories for some countries. It would be interesting to force people to build some units they don't normally build and learn how to take advantage of them.

You can achieve some of the same effect now with MaxBuiltPerPlayer. Unfortunately the AI gets confused by this and stops building if the limit is reached.

An automatic placement can also be used for unit diversity.

Another possibility would be using a unit that automatically generates another type of unit, for example an AircraftPlant that builds a fighter each turn.

Would make an interesting option.  In a game allowing multiple factories per territory, would it just increase production capacity, or allow splitting builds by factory?
'thats the way it is' makes it neither desireable nor inevitable

I think it is already possible using:

placementLimit

values: only affects placement. the count is equal to the number of this unit allowed per territory, and the value is equal to "owned" (we are only counting units owned by each player), or "allied" (allied too), or "total" (which counts enemy units too)
