PRECONDITIONS FOR MAP UPLOAD

If you want your map to be first time uploaded or updated at the map depot, please consider following steps:


General preconditions for map creators:

1. Make sure your map actually works.  Please PLAYTEST your map for a week or more before you ask for it to be uploaded.  People will be more interested in your map if it is good from the start.
A bad map can leave a bad impression, even if it gets fixed later.  Also, NO copyrighted or offensive material please.
The minimum playtest is done with all countries set to Easy (AI) and playing minimum 5 rounds without errors.

About game xml file:
2. All maps made for TripleA version "1.5" and later require this near the top of the XML:
"triplea minimumVersion" is the minimum version number of TripleA that can play this game.  Many new xmls require features not present in older versions of TripleA. Should be "xx.xx.xx.xx", "xx.xx.xx", "xx.xx", or "xx">
Example:
<triplea minimumVersion="1.8"/>
If you use features from triplea 1.8, then put the latest version of 1.8 (such as 1.8.0.5).  If the latest features you use are from an older version, like 1.7.1.1, or 1.6.1.4, then put that as the minimum version instead.
Preferable specially a new map should be for the latest version of triplea (actually 1.8.0.5).

3. Outdated commands inside the game xml: as reference see "pact_of_steel_2.xml"
- "trigger" - use "conditions" instead
- "takeUnitControl" - does nothing
- "occupiedTerrOf" - use "originalOwner" instead
- "isParatroop" - does nothing
- "isMechanized" - does nothing
- "isTwoHit" - use "hitPoints" instead

About game folder:
4. Remove all unnecessary files like Thumbs.db or configuration.ini, etc....
But please keep the png image of the basetiles that you used for making the polygons, etc, in the zip.

5. Everything is case sensitive ... also the file extension (ie: *.PNG or *.png)
Marines.png and marines.png are two DIFFERENT file names, and if you mix them up, the map will not work on many computers.

About map zip file:
6. The map zip file should contain only the content of the game folder, not the game folder itself.

7. Map file should be as zip. No other compression format.
Example: Examplemap.zip

8. Please do not use "special characters" in the file name, or the map/game name.
These characters should not be used EVER:
+ = [ ] / ? * \ < > | " ' : . , ^ ` \b \n \r \t \0 \f  (etc., and any other special character)

Also, the dash character (-):
Should only be used in Map Skins, and only used between the name of the original map, and the name of the skin (ie: "new_world_order-MapSkinName")

Also, the space character:
Instead of space use underscore (_) character.
Wrong: Example map.zip
Correct: Example_map.zip


Requirements to upload a map:

1. Please host your map somewhere.  Preferable https://www.sendspace.com

2. Provide a 400 pixel wide png picture of your map
Use export screenshot inside game, this screenshot modify in a graphic program to 400 pixel wide, ratio should stay.

3. Version
Which version number and changes to your last posted version.
If map is first time upload only the version number, which should be 1.0

4. Also provide a paragraph description about your map.

World at War - v3 Variant
World at War - v3 Variant FUEL-AA-Range

b.) Rough overview:
Detailed description inside game notes, following is a rough overview.

Both v3 Variants use v3 rules and include:
- paratroopers
- air+sea+land transports, also landing boats, generally proper transport concept
- construction unit
- ability to destroy structures with strategic bombing raid (SBR)
- destroy structures at a retreat
- fighter escorting+intercepting and air battle before normal battle
- battle rounds limit
- multiple hitPoints
- Turn order, which combines axis+allies parties and is therefore perfect for PBEM.

The FUEL-AA-Range mod uses additional:
- "Change unit owners" from Brit&US to Rus&CN and Rus to CN
- Fighter scrambling with radar
- Fighter can also do SBR to train, radar, construction and not intercepted planes
- Fuel consumption for production+movement, incl. refineries
- AntiAir (AA) separated to combat- (hit 1 of 6) and bombing raid- (hit 1 of 12) AA
- Airbase enables full range for planes

c.) General tips:
Due to the wide range of possibilities its more a game for experienced players (typical rounds 30).
Specially the supply strategy is crucial for this mod with air+sea+land transport units.
The combination of all possible features enables almost a real handling of warfare.
The fuel mod opens a totally new strategy setup. Big unit groups can't move forever, so use your fuel wisely.
