New world order LebowskiMods

The latest update, V1.3. changes are briefly listed below:
added new units: Mustang, Tiger, Russian HeavyTank, Commando, Marine, disabled a few original units. Detail please refer to game notes. A standalone .rar file can be downloaded from my website. Here's the updates that requires 1.0. NWO+LebowskiED+V1.3.rar

btw, for a fix on the battleship like French/Fin cruiser, here's a good looking fix. grafics+fix.rar which is already included in the 1.3.

a little fix on turn order display, fixed Turkey bunker, increased German general move to 2, a bunker added in Kyrm, 2 more Russian units, Marine is now artillery-supportable. but remember its stats as a special unit, available in rd4. NWO+LebowskiED+V1.3.1.rar



 V1.3.3  vanilla edition
 retains the Grafzepplin, commando, removed most advanced units.
 added Russian's ability to build AC, Minor's ability to build regular fighters, also removed AxisPowers ability to build factories, to encourage a more dynamic use of General;
 added a Italian factory in Tripoli, Turkey position is slightly improved, by making sz52 inaccessible to Ankara.
This new revision put Axis in a seeming more disadvantageous position, so a bid might be desired for rookies, 4-20 should be reasonable, but for experienced player, the game should be more balanced.

French collapse would not generate income as the game intends, so after 1 rd of capture, French should get a bid equivalent to it's current production.

--Heavyarmour now 4/5/2/8 with artillery ablility, so it has the same cost /effectiveness as 2 artilleries @ 6/4/1/8 2 hits.
--stronger Italian naval offensive capacity, but less transports, lesser Italian land strength.
--significantly better quality German intial army; stronger Finns;  3 German generals;
--battleship/cruiser are now more powerful and expensive to reflect their capital ship status, and the effectiveness of carrier + airforce.
--fixed fighter/earlyfighter look alike;

# changed Mot.Inf stats to 1/1/2/3, arti-supportable, so it works well with tankette, together they are 3/2/2/6, very similar cost/effectiveness as 2 original scouts costing 7.
#bumped up allied income and units a bit to balance Turkey's entree to war.

This map tries to stay to the original NWO in general, with modified graphics, units with more appropriated military names, and somewhat simpler purchase.

The idea is to create a map focusing on balance, gameplay and diversity; this version added 3 new powers(Poland,Greece,Spain) to spice up strategic planning, thinned out the original NWO1939 units structure a bit to simplify things and better represent national advantage. Turn order please refer to the stats menu from top to bottom.

Notable  changes:


-units stat/cost are modified to have better cost-effectiveness.
--original Scout(now tankette) is now 1/1/2/3 artillery, at 3.5 it misrepresents TUV.
--HeavyPanzer is now only available to Germany at 4/5/2/8. German Panzer units are now arti-supprtable, giving them a short burst of offensive bonus when infantry ran out but artillery still exist.
--earlyFighter at 2/3/3/8, making them no more preferable to fighter
--Me262 @ 4/5/3/12 to better reflect tech record, available only to Germany.
--original truck(now Mot.Inf) is now 1/2/2/3, balanced its att/def role.
--original halftrack(now Mech.Inf) is now 2/2/3/5 arti-support
--destroyer 2/3/2/10, with improved defensive effectiveness.
--s.Sub 3/1/3/9 to better reflect tech record.

-Russia, U.S potential income increased, but their expansions are somewhat delayed; UK income increased to balance lack of u.s, Russian income.

-better quality German units to start with; significantly stronger French, Polish presence to check German expansion.

-weaker Italian land strength and income, fewer transport, but slightly stronger navy; Greece added as a buffer to check italian rush to AsiaMinor; no more factories in AsiaMinor and mid-east to balance a harder Italian eastern med front. The point is to diversify the repetitive engagement happens there, giving more options.  

-Spain added to Axis side as a buffer to U.S involvement to Med.






Helpful comments are welcome to adjust gameplay and balance.

hey

this map looks awesome, as i am a big fan of nwo i would like to give my oppinion if you dont mind. maybe its a little fast but compared to what im used to with nwo1.6 i would say that allies are very overpowerd.


for example

france has allot of cash round 1 so paris will be much harder then befor
brit get allot of cash round 1 so they can reinforce paris very fast
italy is allot weaker and looks like they are not gona grow as fast as in 1,6

you added spain for axis but that doesnt make up for this i think.

but time and playing it will tell if im right or wrong, this is yust my first thought as im looking at a game in the lobby.

oh and some small things:

planes and early planes for brit,rus and usa look very similar, hard to tell wich is wich
stats is not gameorder, might wanna chance that with so many nations
and azerbaydzjan i dont get they have same production as rome? is that a mistype?

anyhow i hope this helps and im looking forward to play this map allot

thanks for the input, i'll take into consideration in updates.

Allies aren't that much overpowered as you may think(but we'll have to see more gameplays to be cartain), reason as follows:

British has about 15 less units, and advance to Mideast is delayed for lack of factories, this more than canceling out the higher starting income.

Stronger Fin resistance against Russia, a decent Quality boost for German Baltic fleet, and significantly stronger German airforce; yes defeating France and Poland would be costy for Germans, but the gain in ipcs is now higher to make up the lost to some extend; German armoured units are also slightly better than allies.

EarlyFighter is designed to be phased out as game progresses, although they still have a tatical/cost edge in closer range comparing to fighters. Bunker cost/stat is of no significance as long as rules are obeyed(no mass stacking); Truck(Mot.Inf) at 1/2/2 has a better att/def balance than 1/3/3, and it's 3 range advantage is achieved by Halftrack(Mech.Inf) 2/2/3.  

Higher azerbaydzjan production is to reflect its importance as a strategic resource and a incentive for axis to go Caucaus giving opportunities. Rome should probably be upped to 8, i wanted to have a weaker Italy to reflect historical record and enourage German involvement in Med.

I am also considering a possible Axis Turkey as playable to deal with the balance issues and add even more diversity, of couse Allies would be compensated.

I will not introduce unorthodox game phase such as combat first purchase later, it helps little if at all to speed up game process; The original phase order is excellent, as it adds more uncertainties, you should be albe to plan ahead and estimate loss.

Turn order notes and Plane graphics will be fixed in updates, an easier way for now is to swap with other NWO graphics.


and btw, it has been tested, that, giving correct purchase and open, German should be able to capture Warsaw and Paris by rd 2 and 3, respectively, abate with heavy loss.

apparently you've only downloaded the updates, like 1.1 or 1.2, not the required original package 1.0. Buy anyhow, you can just get the 1.3 standalone to make them all work. make sure you install the map correctly.

why so many units????, i really hope you will change this back. sorry but im not a big fan  of hoi because of the same reason. to many units doesnt make a game better or more fun, it yust gets harder to learn and to calculate battles.

maybe make 2 version? 1 with regular units and 1 with allot of units?

sorry dont mean to offend u, but this is in my oppinion a big setback.

other then the units this map looks great !!!!

yeah, i also indented to include an vanilla version like the 1.0, but had to work on the balance issues, although this one is not nearly as complicated as HOI, it even has a total unit count less than the 1.6.

 I think in vanilla edition I'd still retain the Grafzepplin, commando.

after playing 3.3 vannilla version few times now, i feel its more ballaned then i gave credit for in the beginning,

i have few sugestions and questions , maybe this will help the ballance even better.

-when does france get money when paris falls? most people use 1 round after it gets money, but its not in gamenotes.

- artillery supportable for panzer is not working, also armour is missing in unit stats (and isnt panzer the regular german tank? so not a red dot special unit?)

-germany cant buy cruisers? they do have 2 to start with

germany cant buy carriers before r4, so ger navy sucks overall is that ur intention?

-scout doesnt support elite?

these are most german problems and think if they are fixed the game would be ballanced as it is, maybe spain could use some extra units or bunkers to make it little harder for the allies to take it.

thats it for now, hope ull read this and respond cya

hey,thx for the suggestion.

 I've edited for a newer version, 1.3.4 vanila, here's the list that might resolve your confusion.

--France gets no money after paris fall, American needs to split a portion of her income to France as reinforcement, but this split should not exceed French production. American production is increased for this function to work. This would work against axis as the game progresses if allies captures more territories, i therefore replaced a German destroyer for a battleship, go give a bit more initial axis advantage.
--as for artillery support, everything works as intended, and as notes says. The artillery order is always infantry first, then elite, panzer. I think the confusion you have about panzer is, Panzer is not intended to use as artillery, it's just an regular tank, but it can be supported by artillery, so it does 4/3 once infantries run out, giving german a bliz and last punch advantage; Heavypanzer is artillery; armour is 3/3/2/5, just as regular armour unit in aaa.
--German can now buy cruisers
--about german carrier, yes, I intended to discourage a german naval race with uk from start, or at least at a significantly higher cost for Germans; Russia is stronger in this version,  a seasoned german player should know better not to spend too much on naval initially.
--scout/tankette do support elite.

Not my thread, but zach, if you post errors, you always have to post the TripleA version you are using. You are probably using TripleA 1.1.0.0. Then the mistake might have nothing to do with the map, for fairness sake. 1.1.0.0, although awesome in what it means in terms of progress isnt called unstable for nothing...

Check the game XML and search for 'resourceList'.  There should be an entry like this:


<resource name="PUs"/>   If it says IPCs, change it.

It looks like the XML is missing a <productionRule name="buyXxxx"> for some unit.  Go through the units in your units directories and ensure there's an entry for each type.

You might also want to check on the <propertyList>, updating where needed.
Just compare with - for example - NWO1.7EB in its 1.1.1.0 version.
Also, the Comrade posted descriptions of all the properties in the WikiA.
