Big world - Total War bug - but maybe it's more general

So here's a bug I found:

Let there be zone A, occupied by team 1, in a near sea teritorry. Near zone A there is zone B, the sea. On the sea there is a single transport from the defender. Team 2 moves in with 3 transports, on which there is 2 units. And triggers an amphibious attack. Combat move ensures.

FIrst the sea batle takes place. Team 2 realizes that the transports have an attack of zero, so there is no real chance of victory, so during combat decides to retreat. At this point the retreat triggers, moving  the transports to an adjiacent sea zone, but the units taking part of the amphibious attack remain landed, however no batle is triggered for the land.

At this point the units in the amphibious attack are basically stuck. They cannot retreat or land. They can't be removed even with the edit mode. My expection is that they should retreat with the boats, as they failed to land, as the boats lost the sea battle.

can you provide a savegame of the issue, using the pact of steel map (normal pact of steel, not version 2)

Oh, so I tried to reproduce and failed. The map is TotalWordWarDec1941. The scenario was that Japan attacked Britain in Malaysia with 3 transports, Britain having one transport there. When I tried to reproduce no sea combat occured :-?

In TWW transports can be completely ignored if they are not accompied by a (overwater) naval unit! So in your scenario, the (attacking) transports could actually unload units!

In that case the bug probably was that a battle was triggered between two transport units. :) sadly I did not save that game :(
